Xiao Yao Wan

 

Xiao Yao Wan - Bupleurum & Dang Gui Formula

Pacifies the liver, spreads liver Qi, strengthens the spleen, nourishes the blood, harmonizes the liver and spleen.

 

Indication

Xiao Yao Wan is designed for liver Qi stagnation which invades the stomach and the spleen (liver and spleen disharmony). There is liver Qi stagnation with blood deficiency, Qi and blood stagnation, blood deficiency with fatigue, disharmony between the ying and wei with phlegm, cough, tidal fever and wasting of limbs which may lead to bone steaming.

 

Issues are marked by hypochondriac pain, headache, vertigo, bitter taste in the mouth, dizziness, frequent sighing, epigastric pain and distention, fatigue, anorexia, irregular menstruation, breast distention, anxiety, tightness or fullness in the chest, bloating and pain at the umbilicus and abdomen. Stagnations are also marked by signs of depression, irritability, and increased desire to sleep. There is a thin white or yellow colored tongue coating and wiry and/or deficient pulse.

 

**Use with caution during pregnancy. Use with caution for those with Qi stagnation with underlying liver and kidney yin deficiency.
